The Wall Primary School provides a rich preschool education, in both inclusive and special education settings. We are proud of the programs and of the outstanding services that are offered to our community’s youngest learners, since a solid educational foundation is so important to success. Our Preschool provides a solid bridge into our district’s kindergarten program, and our teachers engage in professional development that ensures the preschool curriculum is aligned with kindergarten expectations.

Young children have a natural curiosity and an eagerness to explore, and both are nurtured at Wall Primary School. Skills are introduced through fun-filled, exciting activities.Thematic units incorporate activities which introduce or reinforce developmentally appropriate skills that lay a foundation for future academic success. The curriculum is both fun and meaningful for young learners. It is aligned to the New Jersey Department of Education Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards. Emphasis is placed on the following:

  • Learning readiness experiences in the areas of English Language Arts, Math, and Science;
  • Social Development: Thinking and speaking activities for language and conceptual development are facilitated and taught in group social settings to foster authentic learning and to encourage developmentally appropriate social skills;
  • Learning by Doing: Concrete experiences include experiments and cooking projects as well as follow-up paper and pencil tasks including visual-motor exercises;
  • Active, creative play;
  • Crafts and Creations: Arts, crafts, kitchen creations, and constructions;
  • Songs and Games: Popular songs, nursery rhymes, finger-plays, games, exercises, activities to develop rhythm, coordination and balance.

The philosophy of the Preschool Program of the Wall Township School District is consistent with the philosophy of the district. Each student is a valued individual with unique talents. The program provides supports for the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual talents and needs of children. Acknowledging that all students can learn, and do so in different ways, the program provides a variety of instructional approaches, resources, and appropriate assessments to support learning.

Family involvement is an essential component of the program. Regular and frequent communication between home and school offers opportunities to acquire skills, knowledge, and techniques to support the children, and to maximize their success.

Tuition students are accepted into the program. Please call Wall Primary School at 732 556 2114 to arrange a visit or to complete an application.
